Book of Revelation discloses an angel proclaiming that the kingdom of this world has become the kingdom of the Lord and His Christ and He shall reign forever and ever’ 11:15 The kingdom of the world taken over by Christ was surely the earthly kingdom, Israel, that was of the world and not one ”of God’ or ‘of heaven’.This kingdom eventually was to cease and it did, when the kingdom of God and of Christ came into being. Jesus announced ”The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe the gospel, Mk.1:15; In Matt.4: 17, Jesus is said to have ‘begun to preach, ‘and to say, Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand’ . He told Pilate My kingdom is not of this world’. Previously the nation of Israel was a Theocracy in a sense, but it never did even approach the level of being a kingdom of God and of heaven. Te kingdom of God and of heaven, would have a ‘surety of a better covenant’ Jesus Christ, Himself the surety of the New covenant of grace under which believers are. It could not fail because Christ is the Divine Surety, Hebrews 7:22.
