As a basis for our examination, let us remember that the Word of the Gospel says these things: Jude 1:3 “Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints” ESV; Heb 2:3,4 “How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by those who heard Him God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with different kinds of miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?” MKJV.
There is only one gospel It is that which is contained in the whole of the New Testament. Jesus began to preach it as recorded in the Gospels. The book of Acts shows a continuation of the proclamation. The entirety and fullness of the Gospel is revealed throughout the Epistles. There is no other true gospel. We are warned not to reject this gospel that is all about “so great a salvation”. We cannot add to it and neither are we allowed to detract from it. Most sorrowfully one has to state that on all of the Christian Television channels that go world-wide, hundreds of millions are listening to something other than the true gospel. Surely this condition should bring all of us to a place of repentance before God and the Lord Jesus Christ. We either should not listen and receive such errors of heresies and even perhaps blasphemies or if we are preachers we must also repent and change our preaching back to what the New Testament most clearly reveals. It is obvious and also well known that Christians rather than examining closely their New Testaments, are being entertained and put to sleep by what is shown on Television. It is like Hollywood or Bollywood, with all of its glitter and glamour. The world wants stars and now so do those who are supposed not to be of the world although in it, as Jesus said. It is not the intention of the Lord Jesus Christ that we go the ways of the world.
There is a blatant and deliberate acceptance by the popular preachers of a new philosophy that is far from Christianity. It is a form of Gnosticism, Christian Science, a Mind Science.
Let us observe these verses: “But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs. But as for you, O man of God, flee these things. Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.
“Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called and about which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.
I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who in his testimony before Pontius Pilate made the good confession,
to keep the commandment unstained and free from reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ” ESV 1 Tim.6:9-14.
The fight of faith concerns living what is revealed in the whole of the New Testament about the faith, or body of truth, of the gospel. It is about proclaiming only what the faith of the gospel, or all of its tenets, really is. There is a deliberate onslaught by Satan on the church of Jesus Christ and against the truth of the gospel as laid out totally in the Scriptures.
The following are revelations of what was preached by Joseph Prince on Australian Christian Television, 20 May, 2012. As we listened, we were horror-stricken. It was almost unbelievable that we found ourselves living in a day when such an aberration of the gospel was being preached. All of our lives, spent in evangelical and Pentecostal with Charismatic Churches, we had never heard such “another gospel”. Yes, we had read of it, heard snatches of it from DVDs and Christian Television but never had we listened to such a detraction from the gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. We were appalled and remained sorrowful for some days.
First of all he stressed that God wants you to reign. That is not the whole point of the gospel. It is rather that our sin question is dealt with, that we receive the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, are washed in the blood of the Lamb and living in holiness as in:”Let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God” Webster 2 Cor.7:1.In any case our reigning is to reign in life and that is the eternal life of Christ Himself. Who is Christ? He is not just a man who is anointed on earth. He is and was then, throughout His earthly life and on the cross – God. Look at these verses: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God … And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth … And of his fullness have we all received, and grace for grace” Web. (Jn.1:1,14,16). This is the revelation of the Deity on earth and the Godhead, of the Lord Jesus Christ. These preachers deny this paramount truth of the gospel. It is so sad and we feel for all.
They have also never bothered to look up the dictionary meaning of “righteous” or “righteousness”. They are related to justice, equity, law keeping and thus are not any part of the nature of a human being, even if a believer. Le us look at this verse: “Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give to me at that day: and not only to me, but also to all them that have loved his appearing” RV (2 Tim.4:8). “Righteousness” is from the Greek word, dikaiosune, meaning “specifically justification, righteousness:. “Righteous” (judge – the Lord Jesus Christ) comes from dikiaos and means “innocent, holy, meet, right”. what applies to us as men is different from that applied to the Lord. Prince said in this sermon, “He is righteous. You are righteous. He is blessed. You are blessed”. That is putting believers in Christ on a level with Christ. How can we, creatures created by Him physically and spiritually, be exactly the same as he and others say? Think of this verse, “To the only wise God, our Savior, be glory and majesty and might and authority, even now and forever. Amen” MKJV (Jude 25).
Now, at the present time, now while we are here on earth, now that we are believers waiting for the redemption of our bodies, now while we are fighting the good fight of faith and now while Jesus Christ is seated on the right hand of God, is the application of this verse. He is the only wise God. Jesus Christ is our Savior. We ascribe to Him now – glory and majesty. He is the glory as stated by James (2:1). To Him is honored “might”. That word comes from the Greek, ichlas. It has the meanng of might that is the nature and attribute of God alone. That Greek word is never used of us, even as believers. It is used of God alone and not of us. To Him we ascribe “might” and “authority”.
“Authority” is used in Matthew 28:18, “And Jesus came to them and spake unto them, saying, All authority hath been given unto me in heaven and on earth” RV. . KJV translates it “power”. This what is stated in Robertson’s Word Power (RWP): “All authority (pasa exousia). Jesus came close to them (proselthon) and made this astounding claim. He spoke as one already in heaven with a world-wide outlook and with the resources of heaven at his command. His authority or power in his earthly life had been great (Matt.7:29;11:27;21:23.). Now it is boundless and includes earth and heaven. Believers today are claiming to have that authority. Such was given to the twelve disciples and to the seventy, all sent out by Jesus to preach in the villages. to them he gave exousia, meaning “jurisdiction, right”.
This authority has never been given to us. We instead, through the baptism with the Holy Ghost that always includes speaking in other tongues, are given dunamis. This includes the meaning of “worker of a miracle, the miracle itself”. Sadly, believers are reading and listening to Copeland and Hagin in “The Authority of the Believer”. Their beliefs have become the controlling philosophies for thousands of Pastors and in a multitude of churches. They have copied all of the matters stated in E.W. Kenyon’s book on that subject, which I have read. He goes so far as to say we have power of attorney. That is never stated in the Scriptures. Power of attorney means we have the power to act on our own as we wish. Instead, we stand in the fullness of the meaning covered by the Person with the Name of Jesus. The Word of God gives us these commands and this knowledge about Him in: “There is only one lawgiver and judge, he who is able to save and to destroy … Come now, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit’– yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, ‘If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that’ ESV (Jas.4:12-15)”. It is obvious that there is a general lack of knowledge of the Word of God, of Him Who said “My people are destroyed through lack of knowledge”. We should be applying ourselves diligently to filling our hearts with His Word and particularly, the Gospels and the Epistles.
“To the only wise God, our Savior, be glory and majesty and might and authority, even now and forever. Amen” Jude 25.
