Son of Man is in the Gospels at least 100 times. It appears once in the Old Testament. However, it is there many times in the Book of 1 Enoch. The Lord Jesus was referring to that book in the use of His name for Himself so many times. It was part of the Scriptures He esteemed. In the Gospels, he Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins. He had power in heaven. Now He displays His Divinity in the forgiveness of sins because God alone can forgive man’s sins. The came to seek and to save that which was lost, in particular in the house of Israel. He predicted His coming as Judge in Matthew 24 with a multitude of angels. He is Lord of Hosts. His appearance would not be as it was as Son of Man here, and that was on the earth of Palestine. The coming He spoke about was not one for the end of the world. It was one concerning the end of the times of Israel as in Daniel 12 when His judgment would effect Israel as the Great Tribulation such as there never had been, and never would be afterwards. After the end of the times of Israel there would be no Israel to have an more tribulation. And the terribleness and horrors of the 3 and a half year period of the Great Tribulation was full of such as recorded by historians. The Son of Man was Judge whereas on earth, He was as Savior to whoever in Israel would accept Him. They would be sheltered from His wrath and the wrath of God in the day of the visitation of such upon the nation, as long as they ‘endured to the end’. Then as Jesus said, the would be ‘saved’.
