THE BELIEVER’S POWER

We all need power in our Christian experience. The power of this world, the sin, the allurements, the evil is all around us. Satan has power. We must have power. Sin tempts, we need power. Jesus has not left His own powerless. In the face of our many enemies, within and without, we need that power. This power is also necessary for advancement in the knowledge of Christ and His love. There is a high level in the standard He leaves for as as told by the Apostle Paul. Did Paul arrive? Probably not as he said he pressed towards the mark of the prize of the high calling in Christ Jesus. The cisterns of this world are broken and the world’s waters therein fail. Only Christ can satisfy. As said by a Divine of old, St. Augustine, ‘Thou hast made us for Thyself oh God, and our heart is restless till it finds its rest in Thee’. Dissatisfied with life? Try drinking at His fountain of everlasting springs in the Spirit. Know the peace and joy He freely supplies when we drink at the Fountain of Life, that everlasting spring, spurting up from within us. Then there is the power found in the Holy Spirit whose Might is endless and eternal. We taste of the powers of the age to come. Oh, what powers, such as earth has never seen and will never seen because they arise from on High and abound as we jump into the Eternal Spirit of God for refreshings from time to time. ‘Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good. Blessed is the man who trusts in Him’. There are Jews among our churches who believe in Jesus as their Messiah but who also say Jesus was Messiah only to Jews. However, to believe in Jesus is to believe totally in His Gospel. According to Romans 10:4–14: The gospel says: Christ put a stop to the end of the Law as a means of salvation – that includes keeping Jewish laws. It is about the message of faith. Salvation is by believing and confessing Jesus as Lord. Verse 10 ‘For with their hearts men believe and then find righteousness, while with their lips they make their profession of faith – and so find salvation’. It is for the whosoever. V.12 For no distinction is made between the Jew and the Greek (Gentile), for all have the same LORD, AND HE IS BOUNTIFUL TO all who invoke him (that call upon him). His name is Jesus. Then as believers in Jesus Christ and His gospel, we are to be strengthened with all might. After becoming a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, Power is available to us. It is a gift to us, and we are not to treat lightly any gift from our Lord. The heavenly riches await the withdrawal.
